Marc Anthony, his real name is Marco Antonio Muñiz, was born to Puerto Rican parents, Guillerminna and Felipe Muñiz, in New York City the 16 of September, 1968. Marc is a singer-songwriter, actor and producer. he is one of the top selling tropical salsa artist of all time. The two-time Grammy and three-time Latin Grammy–winner has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide. He is best known for his Latin salsa numbers and ballads.

Instructed in music theory and composition by his father, Anthony grew up listening to Latin musicians, including Rubén Blades, Hector Lavoe, and Willie Colón, and contemporary pop recordings by Air Supply and José Feliciano.

Anthony recorded his debut album, When the Night Is Over, in 1991. Anthony’s second album, Otra Nota (produced and arranged by Sergio George), was a better representation of Anthony’s salsa roots and included the original tune “Juego o Amor.” Todo a Su Tiempo, released in 1995, was a continuation of Anthony’s collaboration with George.

Marc Anthony has sold over 11 million albums worldwide, making him one of the most influential artists of his time and a true ambassador of Latin music and culture.

With his fourth album, Contra la Corriente, Anthony began working with producer/arranger Angel “Cucco” Peña, and it won the 1999 Grammy for Best Tropical Latin Performance. A self-titled English-language album released in 1999 was an overt attempt at crossing over to the mainstream, and it did reach the Top Ten of the main Billboard album chart, with “I Need to Know” peaking at number three. While 2002’s Mended was an even greater commercial success, Anthony continued to release Spanish-language albums that were closer to his roots, like 2001’s Libre and 2004’s Amar sin Mentiras.

Marc has also established a highly credible acting résumé and may be seen in Martin Scorsese’s “Bringing Out the Dead”, “In the Time of the Butterflies” (2001); “Man On Fire” (2004). He also appeared in the 1997 Paul Simon musical, “The Capeman.” Marc Anthony starred as the Puerto Rican salsa pioneer Héctor Lavoe, in 2007’s El Cantante, which co-starred his then wife, Jennifer Lopez.

May 2010 marks the release of his new production titled “Iconos” (Icons), an all ballad Spanish album produced by Marc Anthony and Julio Reyes including eight titles of his favorite balladeers and two original songs both written by Julio Reyes and Marc Anthony. These memorable songs turned into classics by artists such as: Juan Gabriel, José Luis Perales, José José, Roberto Carlos and La Mafia are born again, now in the incomparable emotion and unique style of Marc Anthony.
